Sam Chatmon Blues Festival

October 01-Hollandale-  The Bluefront area just across the (former) railroad tracks became the scene of a day-long festival of music, fun and food.  The festival is named in honor of Sam Chatmon, renowned Blues musician, now deceased.  It combined music of various styles with several groups performing, including a Gospel Choir.  As you see in the photos there is not much left of Bluefront, with only a couple of buildings still standing.  The music was fantastic as was the food.  The weather cooperated nicely too. A drawing was held for an acoustic guitar signed by all the musicians that appeared.  There is a movement started to get Sam's old house moved from its present location in Jonestown to the Bluefront area.  It will be transformed into a museum dedicated to Sam and the Blues music he loved so much.  Already several people have come forward with recordings of of his music to be placed in the museum.  The festival is an annual one so make plans for next year.  See ya'll there.
